Undertake Vertical Rescue

This course is designed for personnel who are required to conduct a range of vertical rescue tasks is various industries such as construction, telecommunication, and electrical, as well as mining oil and gas.

Duration:

5 days (40 hours)

Prerequisites

A current HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid qualification and PUASAR022 – Participate in Rescue Operations.

Objectives and Content

Legislation and standards
Theory on software and hardware used in vertical rescue
Prepare and respond to vertical rescue
Assess the incident scene and carry out hazard identification and risk assessment
Knots, hitches, and anchorages
Stretcher escorting and patient handling
Rope mobility (ascending and descending)
Mechanical advantage
Establish a vertical rescue system
Pick off and team rescue techniques
Belay principles
Perform vertical rescue
Clean and maintain rescue equipment and PPE
Understand team rescue principles
Safety Officer and Team Leader roles and responsibilities
Guidelines (optional)

Entry Requirements

Participant must:

Have the ability to read, write and understand English
Present photo I.D. on arrival
Wear normal work clothing and enclosed footwear

Training and Facility

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
