Undertake Vertical Rescue

This course is designed for personnel who are required to conduct a range of vertical rescue tasks is various industries such as construction, telecommunication, and electrical, as well as mining oil and gas.

5 days (40 hours)

Prerequisites

A current HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid qualification and PUASAR022 – Participate in Rescue Operations.

  • Theory on software and hardware used in vertical rescue
  • Prepare and respond to vertical rescue
  • Assess the incident scene and carry out hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Knots, hitches, and anchorages
  • Stretcher escorting and patient handling
  • Rope mobility (ascending and descending)
  • Mechanical advantage
  • Establish a vertical rescue system
  • Pick off and team rescue techniques
  • Belay principles
  • Perform vertical rescue
  • Clean and maintain rescue equipment and PPE
  • Understand team rescue principles
  • Safety Officer and Team Leader roles and responsibilities
  • Guidelines (optional)
Entry Requirements

Participant must:

  • Have the ability to read, write and understand English
  • Present photo I.D. on arrival
  • Wear normal work clothing and enclosed footwear
Training and Facility

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
