Rope Access Training Level 2 (SPRAT)

This course is designed to provide workers with the knowledge and practical skills to the level of a SPRAT Level 2 Rope Access Advanced Operator & Basic Site Supervisor. Duration:
5 days (40 hours): 4 days training + 1 day assessment

At the successful completion of a Level 2 Assessment, Operators may supervise workers on a ‘Basic’ site and may also work under the supervision of a Level 3 Operator on an ‘Advanced’ site.

Prerequisites
  • A current ARAA or SPRAT Level 1 certification (attained at least 6 months prior)
  • 500 logged hours employing twin-rope system since attaining Level 1 (supervisor-signed and verified).
  • Sky5 recommend students have a current (within 24 months) Work Safely at Heights certificate (RIIWHS204D or equivalent) and HLTAID011 provide First Aid
Direct Entry (Level II) Requirements

Direct Entry applicants shall provide the following documentation:

  • Completed Direct Entry Application including confirmation of terms and conditions
  • Documentation* of 500 hours of work experience in accordance with Safe Practices for Rope Access Work
  • A work at height resume or Curricula Vitae
  • Applicable application fee

Sky 5 will send all your Direct Entry information to SPRAT to be assessed, and SPRAT will notify you of the outcome of your Direct Entry application.
*Please note the Direct Entry fee does not include the certification processing cost assessed following the completion of a successful evaluation.
*All direct Entry fees will be discussed at time of application.

Objectives and Content
    Candidates may be asked to demonstrate proficiency in the skills and knowledge required of a Level 1 Technician:
  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Equipment use and inspection
  • Job safety
  • Rigging and system dynamics
  • Knots and hitches
  • Load-sharing anchorage systems
  • Retrievable rope systems
  • Vertical aid climbing
  • Pick-off rescue of casualty through knots
  • Rescue from horizontal aid climbing
  • Rigging and operating a Rope Access System pre-rigged to lower
  • Pitch head break in lower
  • Cross-haul
