NSW Whitecard Training (Rosebery)

This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others.

Duration:
1 day (8 hours, or 6 hrs not including breaks)

This competency course aims to enlighten the participant with the mandatory work health and safety training required before undertaking construction work. This course requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements to work safely and prevent any injury or harm to self and others.

Its focus on understanding necessary risk control measures, identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly and fitting standard personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for the course. All students must be eligible to receive nationally recognised training within Australia and be able to provide an unique student identifier (USI) upon enrolment. Applicants should be at least 14 Years of age, able to produce 100points as per the SafeWork NSW identification checklist and speak and understand English at a level to be able to belong in the training and assessment.

Our White Card Course is licenced though SafeWork NSW and we must deliver the program as per their requirements.

All students must have 100 points of ID in original form on the day of training.

Within the 100 points, applicants must show the following:
Photo
Date of Birth
Signature
Current Residential Address
A Statement of Training (SOT) must be issued to students if they satisfactorily complete all assessments, demonstrating competency in the program.
Due to White Card being a Government Initiative, students will have to complete ALL hours required. Insufficient ID and being late will automatically deem the student ineligible to start the course on that date. Students will need to contact our office to rebook, paying 50% of the course cost, if this is the case.

Students must bring:

Evidence of Identity for 100 points
PRIMARY ID - Only ONE Primary ID document can be used
Passport (Current or expired within last 2 years but not cancelled) 70pts
Full ORIGINAL Australian Birth Certificate or Birth Card - 70pts
Australian Citizenship Certificate - 70pts
SECONDARY ID - A combination of secondary documents is allowed to make up 100 points however if more than one credit or ATM cards, or bank statements are used they MUST be from different financial institutions. NOTE: MUST BE VALID ORIGINAL DOCUMENT / CARD ISSUED IN AUSTRALIA

Current Australian Boat Operator's Photo Licence - 40pts
Current Australian Firearms Licence - 40pts
Current Australian State or Territory Proof of Age/Photo Card - 40pts
Australian Defence or Police photo identification card - 40pts
Medicare Card - 25pts
Bank ATM or Credit Card - 25pts
Centrelink Card - 25pts
Motor Vehicle Registration Papers - 25pts
Motor Vehicle Insurance Certificate - 25pts
Department of Veterans Affairs Card - 25pts
Property (Council) Rates Notice - 25pts
Property Lease Agreement - 25pts
Home Insurance Papers - 25pts
Utility Bill; eg: Electrical, Water, Gas - 25pts

Objectives and Content

Identifying relevant standards and legislation requirements related to working on a construction site

Identifying construction hazards and control measures

Identify ways to communicate risks and hazards to superiors and workers on site

Applying basic risk management principles and assessment of construction work

Identifying responsibilities and rights of workers and supervisors on site

Applying safe work practices whilst working on construction sites

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

Have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy, and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course.

Present 100 points and photo I.D. on arrival

Training and Facility

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
