Height Safety Training (Rosebery)

This is a 1 day course with theory and practical components lasting around 4 hours each. You can choose to physically attend our training facility to undertake both theory and practical components or choose to do the theory component via e-Learning. If you choose to do the theory component via e-Learning you will need to be at our training facility for the practical component by 1pm on the date the course is available (please be early as it starts at 1pm sharp). The course cost is the same with either option.

This course has been designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to correctly use fall protection equipment in a range of environments.

Exposing students to working at heights risks in multiple real-life scenarios helps them understand how to manage those risks in the workplace. Students will be able to identify the hazards of work at height and have an understanding of key legislation.

Following training, students will be able to understand the various categories of personal fall prevention and protection equipment (PPE), including their characteristics and limitations. Students will also be required to carry out pre and post use inspections of all equipment.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for the course. All students must be eligible to receive nationally recognised training within Australia and be able to provide an unique student identifier (USI) upon enrolment

Objectives and Content
  • Legislation
  • Risk assessments and control measures
  • Pre and post use inspection of all personal fall arrest equipment
  • Demonstrate fall restraint, work positioning, and fall arrest techniques
  • Anchor point selection and inspection
  • Correct rigging of anchorage slings
  • Use of self retracting lifelines (SRL), and single and twin lanyards
  • Temporary horizontal safety lines
  • Recognise suspension intolerance
  • Demonstrate an industrial rescue technique (additional element if appropriate facility available)

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

  • Have the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including gaining access, working, and egress from a place of height whilst wearing the appropriate PPE.
  • Have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy, and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course.
  • Present photo I.D. on arrival

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
