Height Safety Supervisor

This course has been designed to comply with AS/NZS1891.4:2009 Section 2.2.11 Training and competency requirements as a height Safety Supervisor.

RIIWHS204E Work safely at heights, PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
Duration:
3 days (24 hours)

Supervisors must demonstrate all competencies as height safety operators and be able to work at heights unsupervised, supervise entry-level operators, and also have the skills to supervise (and participate in) a first response rescue.

Prerequisites

A current HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Objectives and Content
  • Legislation
  • Risk assessments and control measures
  • Pre and post use inspection of all personal fall arrest equipment
  • Demonstrate fall restraint, work positioning, and fall arrest techniques
  • Temporary and vertical horizontal safety lines, including first man up systems
  • Knowledge of installed safety lines, rails, and anchorage points
  • Anchor point selection and inspection
  • Correct rigging of anchorage slings
  • Use of self-retracting lifelines (SRL), and single and twin lanyards
  • Temporary horizontal safety lines
  • Recognise suspension intolerance
  • Demonstrate the use of industrial rescue techniques using a pre-engineered rescue kit
  • High anchorage rescue
  • Leading edge rescue
  • Rescue of a structure
  • SRL rescue
  • Casualty evacuation and patient packaging in a stretcher

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

  • Have the physical capacity to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including gaining access, working, and egress from a place of height whilst wearing the appropriate PPE
  • Have sufficient English language, literacy, numeracy and visual interpretation skills to successfully complete the course
  • Present photo I.D. on arrival
Training and Facility

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
