Gas Test Atmospheres

This course is designed for personnel who may need to undertake monitoring of potentially hazardous atmospheres in the workplace. Areas that may need to be atmospherically tested may include: confined spaces, work around hazardous material storage areas, restricted spaces, or areas which contain dangerous goods.

MSMWHS217 Gas Test Atmosphere
Duration:
Half-day (4 hours)

This training course will teach personnel when gas testing is required, how to conduct gas testing, and how to determine if the atmosphere is safe to work in. Many practical exercises are included as part of the training, which also involves ‘hands-on’ experience operating gas testing equipment.

  • Prepare and plan for monitoring
  • Take precautions to safeguard health
  • Take atmospheric readings
  • Identify TWA, STEL, Peaks, IDLH atmospheres
  • Follow sampling rules
  • Maintain equipment
  • Change sensors in the field
  • Conduct bump and calibration testing of the equipment Gas detector records

Entry Requirements

Participants must have:

  • Participants must hold a certificate for the pre-requisite – MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis.
  • An individual undertaking this course must be able to demonstrate the demands of the practical demonstrations of the course including wearing and working in all relevant personal protective equipment, conducting hazard analysis and tests/inspections for gas or other hazards.
  • Present photo I.D. on arrival
Training and Facility

Training can be conducted at your work site or off-site at one of our purpose-built training facilities.
