MSMWHS217 Gas test atmospheres

This training course will teach personnel when gas testing is required, how to conduct gas testing, and how to determine if the atmosphere is safe to work in. Many practical exercises are included as part of the training, which also involves ‘hands-on’ experience operating gas testing equipment.

Objectives and Content

Prepare and plan for monitoring
Take precautions to safeguard health
Take atmospheric readings
Identify TWA, STEL, Peaks, IDLH atmospheres
Follow sampling rules
Maintain equipment
Change sensors in the field
Conduct bump and calibration testing of the equipment Gas detector records

Participants must have:

Participants must hold a certificate for the pre-requisite – MSMWHS201 Conduct hazard analysis.
An individual undertaking this course must be able to demonstrate the demands of the practical demonstrations of the course including wearing and working in all relevant personal protective equipment, conducting hazard analysis and tests/inspections for gas or other hazards.
